History

Spirit Of Sharing (S.O.S.) was founded by Craig and Eileen Campbell. Craig knew early on that he wanted to help our local military families by giving back to them, especially during the holiday season, and he knew that there was no one better to get the ball rolling on such a big endeavor than his wife and partner, Eileen.  Craig’s father was a pilot in the Air Force and served in WWII and the Korean War and Eileen’s father was in the Army and also served during the Korean War.  Through the stories told to them from their parents, Craig and Eileen had an understanding of the strains that deployments can create for families and felt a need to reach out and offer assistance during the holidays to their military neighbors aboard Camp Pendleton and other surrounding military installations, especially during the holiday season. S.O.S. was started in 1998 and in 2004 became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The Face and Force Behind the Founder of Spirit of Sharing–Eileen Campbell

Eileen, the co-founder and resource developer for S.O.S. took the idea of helping military families one step further, making sure every family received not only the necessities needed during the holidays but also ensured that each child had individually wrapped gifts from “Santa” to open on Christmas morning. She was a whirlwind of activity for the first few years while forming and growing S.O.S. as a nonprofit organization. She did everything from recruiting the help of her children, family, and friends to shopping, wrapping, and delivering for several military families at a time.

Eileen is always trying to find a way to give to others and after starting with only 2 adopted military families in 1998, she has continued to strive diligently to focus her efforts on raising awareness about S.O.S., fundraising, and vocalizing the need for community support of our military service members and their most precious assets–their families.

Please help Spirit of Sharing in our efforts to continue to raise awareness for our cause. We welcome any fundraising opportunities that you and/or your organization or group may be willing to facilitate throughout the year in order to raise much needed funds for SOS so that we can continue to help support the needs of our military families who sacrifice so much in serving our country.
